Chunky Move

26 May – 19 June 2016

Heroes, icons, imagined worlds and censored dreams. We relentlessly create, monitor and edit our own image in response to an abundance of references and influences. In a hyperconscious world, how do we define ourselves?

Chunky Move presents the world premiere of L U C I D, an intimate work for two performers, multiple cameras and a screen, which interrogates how we imagine and reconstruct our identities.

A new work by Artistic Director Anouk van DijkL U C I D sees performers Lauren Langlois and Stephen Phillips travel to places where they can be all that they desire, fear or censor. Shapeshifting in and out of other people’s skins, they confront themselves in reflections of others.

L U C I D reveals the many faces we present to the world; a culmination of the carefully crafted or those released by fearless abandon.

9 April 2016

Six comedians. Two sides. One topic. One host with not a hope of keeping things under control.

It’s the 27th annual Great Debate!

Roll up to the Melbourne Town Hall for the Festival’s biggest battle of the brains, as two teams of local and international comedy heavyweights argue, rant, beg, cheat and steal to reign supreme. The topic will be divisive and contentious, and the comedy hard-hitting and shamelessly antagonistic.

The past has seen US comedian Rich Hall ride into the Melbourne Town Hall on a camel and UK comedian Paul Foot attempt to launch himself into space from the auditorium.

So step right up and witness comedy’s colossal contest, where the Festival’s funniest lock horns to debate the world’s big questions.

Kin Collaborative

December 2015 – March 2016

Melbourne Black is a sexy, witty, glamorous new Australian dramedy about Generation Y in Bourgeois Bohemia.

Throughout 2014 Collaborators and BFFLs Siena Stone and Will Hannagan set to making a pilot for a series that parodies contemporary Melbourne life. With the help of over sixty creatives volunteering their time, Melbourne Black came to fruition with the pilot launching online in December 2014.

The plan now: to get the whole series produced. Melbourne needs this series more than its inhabitants need smashed avo and three flat whites to make it past noon. Season one entails eight web episodes. Our pilot functions as both a teaser and a pitch. If you are a broadcaster, arts body or just an everyday philanthropist who enjoys binging on stylish Melbourne dramedy send an enquiry our way to
